Home, Garden and Farm

Our homes and buildings are not separate from the natural world; they are part of it. We have become used to irrigated and fertilized lawns and beds of annual flowers. At the other extreme, we live with natural areas containing unmanaged brush and uncontrolled weeds, presenting a significant fire hazard. In both cases, we have not developed a sustainable landscape compatible with our lives and our future.

If we want sustainable, Green landscaping, how do we achieve it?

Some ideas are already being tried. They include:

• Drought tolerant landscaping
• Edible landscaping
• Green roofs and living walls
• Low impact development (LID)

To these solutions, we add the maintenance of natural landscapes. We begin by including the wild areas on our properties as part of the home landscape. We also bring nature into the landscapes immediately surrounding our homes. Our services include:

Natural Landscaping
Fuel Management
• Trail Construction and Maintenance

We are highly experienced in environmental mitigation, for those people who are building new structures and require mitigation as part of the permit process.

A prickly pear cactus, seen in shadow on the right, was planted by the original ranching family many years ago.
